Unhappy Front Bumper Damage

I was walking out of my son's school this morning, dropping off a trumpet, and watched, from a distance, as a Ford Explorer backed into the front bumper. Skreeek, thud, scrunch, was the sound. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/i...ump1.gifWalked up to the car, the Explorer owner was waiting on the sidewalk, and looked at the front bumper. A very nice 2 inch square hole, almost dead centre, near the top. Trailer hitch. Anyhoo, I will get a new bumper from insurance, but, would there be anything else I should mention to the repair shop? i.e. something that this forum is aware of, that night be missed by a non-Jaguar repair shop (insurance says Car-Stars gives a lifetime warranty on their work). Hood opened fine, did not see any other damage- just a 2" square hole. Repair shop mentioned some brackets that may be damaged, visible only when they take the bumper off.

Thanks for any info.

Carl, as long as the bumper is sitting where it should be, that should be all that is damaged. The top of the bumper isn't supported really and there is a large metal brace behind that can possibly bet damaged. But, like the shop said, they won't know that until the cover is removed. Then, it is pretty obvious if it has been damaged or not.

Thanks Thermo. I'll wait and see what the shop says when they get a new bumper. Guess, I'll decorate the square hole- maybe with a yellow sponge with arms and legs.

Sorry to hear this mishap, this is why I hate plastic bumper covers ,even a shopping cart can hurt these delicate plastic materials lol

People who drive like that deserve every penny of an insurance rate increase.

You may have the right to have the car repaired by a dealer if you are so inclined. It depends on your insurance legislation and policy.
