Fog Light Connector

Fog Light Connector
I decided to tackle the headlight rebuild for the adjusters on my 2002 X-Type and planned some touch up paint work for the bumper cover. Everything went smoothly, headlights on the bench, but can't remove the bumper because i can't discover the trick to unplug the Fog Light connector. it has a red piece that can be easily removed but will not budge from there.
Anyone know the trick?

avern, I seem to remember that if you look on the plug, you will see where one side is fairly flat and the other has a bulge to it. In the center of the bulge is a button that you need to depress as you are pulling the two halves of the connector apart. The red tab is meant to access the wiring in the plug and remove the pins. So, I would recommend getting that put back in before you pull all the wires out.

avern, I don't have my X-Type any more to reference, but if you take a picture of the plug, it will spark some memories and I will be able to tell you what you need to do. Most of the plugs for the X-Type have either 2 prongs that you have to pull out on the sides or a tab in the center that needs to be pushed in as you are pulling the connector apart.

I have attached pictures of the connector.
Picture 1 front of plug with red pin in pace.
Picture 2 back of connector, rails are for mounting on frame.
Picture 3 side of connector.
Picture 4 red pin raised.
Picture 5 red pin removed
Picture 6 connector without red pin.
Finished up the lights and now want to touch up paint on bumper. May have to wait until i figure out that plug.

Success, at last. In picture 6 you can see the small bar across the connector. You need to position a screwdriver against it and push it in to the opening a very shallow depth and then push back against the bar. If you push in to far you are pushing the lock and it won't open. Looking down you can see the top of the lock. Set the tip of the screwdriver on top of it. There will still be enough of the housing for the screwdriver to get a purchase. Every plug I have ever faced has its on trick.
Hope this helps others.
