Default Front door speakers

Have a question, one of the door speakers is rattling and I need to swap them out. Now the confusing part is that the door panel by the interior handle appears to have a screened hole, possibly for a tweeter - but nothing is mounted there. If those holes are there, is that for a component system?

Without popping off the panel, I am not sure if someone possibly installed some cheaper speakers with tweeters built in on the lower door speaker. Also, if this a component system, does anyone have any cheap recommendations? I usually only listen to talk radio, so high quality would be a waste of money.

Sam, yes, the grille next to the door handle is for the tweeter. odds are, someone in the past has removed the tweeter because it failed or they had to replace the door handle and they could only find the premium sound door handle.

As for replacement speakers, what i would tell you to do is to run new wiring from the lower (mid) speaker up to the tweeter. What you will end up doing is running the factory wiring over to the crossover for the component speaker setup and then running new wiring from the cross over to the 2 speakers. To do otherwise, you are going to be pushing the full range of sound through both speakers which can lead to damage of the speakers.

If you need me to go into more detail, let me know.
