Default Front end "whining" on de-acceleration....

On my 04 XType with 143k I have a consistent "whining" noise on de-accerlation (no braking) between 30 down to 20 miles an hour. Sounds like the right front end but not sure .... any thoughts?

I assume it's auto. Do like 50 mph, let go of the accelerator, shift it to 4th or 3rd and if you hear that wine again and louder then that's the noise turbine makes when you are engine braking. If that's the case then it's normal.

I have had 2 X Types that whine. One was due to front wheel bearings and the other was due to defective Continental tires.

Default prop shaft carrier bearing

hi cessna

By no means am i a professional on this but mine ( also a 2004 x type)had the same thing and after doing a lot of searching I found it to be the prop shaft carrier bearing.

Seems to only happen when it is cold and always seems to be around the same speed you are experiencing it at.

try searching that and see if it might be what is happening with yours. There are a couple posts that even have links to you tube videos that you can hear it in as well

good luck.
