Default Front Struts top mountings.

Help please. Recently I have had a clunk from FOS when coming off speed humps at speeds over 10 mph. My mechanic has had a look at all the bushes and linkages and they're all fine and thinks it is the strut top mount..
There are plenty available on Ebay but I know there are two different suspension firmness's ,standard and sport but there doesn't seem to be two different mounts. My question is does the same mount fit both suspension set ups.
Thank you.

Blues boy, both cars (sport and comfort), use the same mounts. The difference is from factory, the sport shocks are 1.2" shorter and the coils on the car are 1.2" shorter. The sport shocks are valved a little stiffer than the comfort. So, order away with the upper mounts.

Cheers Thermo.. Just hope they sort it as it has the potential to become one ot those annoying hard to pin down noises.
Anyway you can pick a pair up for about £ 50 on line so it's worth a shot.
Thanks again for the help.

Am panicking a bit now. Have ordered online and given supplier my chassis number and he assured me by email that they will fit. Have noticed that the same part number is listed for the Mondeo on his site. Now I am aware of the many shared parts and have no issue with that but have also read horror stories about top strut mounts not fitting right and leaving the car un driveable..The guys business has 100% positive feedback so I am probably over reacting but I just don't want to end up in a mess.

Well that does look identical to what I have ordered and the guy was very thorough with required details when I ordered. (make, model, year and chassis number)..Also he has been selling parts online since 2002 and seems to have good feedback..
Here's hoping.!

I actually followed an AutoDoc (Britain) video on front end replacement that they normally use an X type for, but for this video it was a Mondeo and it was exactly the same process.

Can the strut mounts and bearings be replaced without removing the strut assemblies? For example, using a spring compressor to compress the springs on the car (while under compression) then lifting the car to drop the strut from the mount.
