Whoa wait, how'd you get it to display mpg?? Never knew it had that function! I used a computer program before and mine was doing about 21mpg around the neighborhood.

PS Have you done any mods to it to get such good mileage?! Hydrogen fuel or anything?

I do not believe 58.8.MPG maybe drafting a semi on a long down hill, I've gotten 31.5 on a good day, freeway, 65MPH.

Best mine has shown is 40.1

That is with resetting the trip, filling the car then driving off without stopping for a few miles.

I checked the 2004 X-Type Drivers Handbook for the Trip Computer instructions and it says 'where fitted' so you may not have this option.

I thought all Jaguars had the Trip Computer but it appears this is not the case.

I think I might have seen something in the 80s a couple times on mine for a split second. That is right after resetting the trip computer, while the car is up to temp and you are coasting in a high gear. You will see that for a couple seconds. Look at it 30 seconds later and it's back to normal.

'04, don't you have a button at the end of the turn signal stalk? Push it in and it will scroll through different screens on the display; average speed, mpg, distance to empty, odometer and how long the trip is.

The rightmost of the three buttons, labelled "ML/KM" or something equally enigmatic, right below the big round headlight mode selector on the left side of your steering wheel column...?

It's probably best to use some other means of calculating fuel consumption anyway, at least my trip computer thinks the car is about 10% more economical than my Excel sheet does. Also, then you can plot a graph, and everybody loves graphs.
