Default Fuel Gauge Accuracy

I think I can report that the fuel gauge is super accurate. I was just below the red when I filled up yesterday and then as I pulled away from the pump the car cut out & refused to restart. I checked all the fuses but all was OK. After about half an hour it restarted & got me home without a hitch. Now my thnking is that it run out of fuel literally as I pulled up to the pump and then as the engine was hot and it was a warm day any residual fuel in the system 'evaporated'. Not sure why it would take so long to then to re-prime the system unless there was an air lock, but am ever hopeful that is all it was.

cheers, that makes me feel better that it is not anything more serious. I did wonder if the car may just have had the hump with me as I was looking to change it on Saturday.

Actually, when the car dies out due to gas being absent in the system, it shouldn't take half an hour, but it will take about 5 minutes of constantly trying to start it. Now what I would be worried about, is that you filled up, so the car shouldn't have had any problem taking off and staying on. Sorry if I'm worrying you again, but you shouldn't have thought of leaving her!

Guess the deciding factor was probably not leaving the half hour then but the accumulative time cranking the engine. Not sure how many gallons it took to fill but was about £52 of fuel. Sure we have had morethan this in before? Maybe time to check the fuel filter just to be sure.

All relative as my family seems to be able to spend more than I can earn. It is not that I do not earn enough it is just that the month is too long for my wages.
