Welcome to the forum jhobson08,

A harness connection, Sender (item 2) or Sender Sensor (item 6) fault are possibilities.

The model experts here will have a better idea than me.

jobson08, what I want you to do is to go out to your car and sit down in the driver's seat. Now, locate the TRIP button on the end of the turn signal stalk and depress it (keep it held down). Now start your car (with the button depressed). Be watching the message center and when you see it say "TEST" or "ENGINEERING TEST", release the TRIP Button. You should now have your instrument cluster in a diagnostic mode.

At this point, press the TRIP Button about 18 times til you see your message center say "F1 XXX" (where XXX is a number between 000 and 255). If your fuel tank is full, you should have a number up around 240 or so. If you are seeing 255, then the sensor has failed open. If you are seeing 000 to 009, then the wiring (or the sensor) has shorted out.

If you press the TRIP Button 1 more time, you should see "F2 XXX". Use the same scale above for seeing if you have a bad secondary side fuel level sendor.

If either one of these is bad, it will cause the ECM to give you the error that you are seeing.

If by chance you go too far, you can press the "A/B" button to step backwards.

Once you have the numbers, you can post them here if you are still unsure about things. To get out of the diagnostic mode, you can simply turn off the car and it will return to normal on the next start of the car. Or, if you need to go somewhere, press and hold the TRIP Button for 3 seconds and the instrument cluster will return to normal.

Smile Found the problem.

Thanks’ for all the help.
The problem was the electrical connection on the top of the tank.
The plug had some dodgy connections in it.
Hope this can help others.
