Default Fuse F2 keeps blowing - RESOLVED

This just started happening today after I changed my transmission fluid.

I first noticed that when I hit the brakes my radio display dims, the "lights on" indicator on the dash lights up dimly, half of the button backlights come on (like when you have your lights on at night) and all four of my sidemarkers light up. I started looking around thinking the fix might be as easy as replacing a blown fuse. I found that fuse F2 under the hood was blown so I replaced it. As soon as I turned the car back on and hit the brakes the same thing happened again and the new fuse was blown too.

Do you guys think I have a bad relay somewhere? I think I may have shorted something because I had the battery out to access the tranny fill plug and when I put it back in my wrench hit something while tightening the cable around the positive pole and arced it. I looked up the fuse in the manual and it says "Front fog lights, master light switch" and it is a 15 amp fuse. All the lights are functioning normally except the fogs which I can't test because of some bad ballasts

I also want to add that when I have my headlights on everything appears to be working normally even with that fuse blown. Again, I won't have my front fog lights repaired until at least later this week so I won't be able to test them until then.

Well I solved the problem with the fuse. My cheap Xentecs had water in them and were shorting out. I'll call this resolved but I still have the issue when braking. I'll start a new thread just for that issue

I was getting ready to say that F2 is what powers your fog lights. If that fuse is blowing with the fog lights off, then your problem lies where the fog light wiring (a green/white wire) crosses with your side marker lights (orange/green wire). That would most likely happen right around the battery area. Like I mentioned before, you will need to remove the battery and do a detail inspection of the wiring in the area. I bet you will find that you have a pinched wire under the battery box.

Thanks again thermo, you're a master with these cars. One of my xentec ballasts had water in it which turned out to be the cause. Removing the POS xentec setup and putting my stock halogens back in did the trick for now until my new kit comes in. Fuse F2 has not blown since that fix
