Future of the X-TYPE (and Jaguar)?
I just received my newest issue (May 2007) of Motor Trend today. There is a "First Drive" article that features the new C-XF Concept car, and highlights the new design and future of the upcoming S-TYPE replacement and Jaguar in general. They interview a number of Jaguar staff, managing directors and designers. What's really interesting to me is that at the end of the article, they also feature each of Jaguar's other models and their respective futures.
Specifically the X-TYPE: "Rumors of its imminent demise are untrue. The compact kitty maintains a place in the line-up, albeit at lower volumes than originally anticipated. Jaguar has confirmed that the car will be freshened and updated. That revised X-TYPE will break cover in Spring 2008. Dont' expect to find many stripped, sold-on-price versions. Jaguar wants to push this product and the perception upmarket."

Jags have been my favorite car since i was a little kid, now I finally have a job where i can afford to own their entry range, and even though i love it, its a disapointment compared to the others in the bracket. I really hope their next effort is credible right out of the gate. You have to spend money to make money, so if they are stingy from day one, what do they think they are going to get in return?? At least its still the best looking in the class

By the way, I like the body style of the XType. However, i am open to ideas. I wish they make the engine more powerful and refined. Even the 3.0 Loaner i got today, has noises and struggles when you punch it. Doesn't sound refined as a BMW or a Saab for that matter.

You guys are so lucky over there with fuel prices and car prices too.
A new Saab Aero (V6 turbo) over here would probably cost in the region of £28k - £30k...........thats Pounds!
If you're talkin $$$, man, thats gotta be about £16k?? approx
