gas mileage
Currently I'm lucky to average 18mpg but thats with warming her up quite a bit...no highway all city...from michigan& to wisconsin^ and back I average about high 24 to 25 mpg at a steady 85mph...mix of city/highway steady 22.2...***&^%$#-see below
***-these numbers were calculated using the cars computer
&-all rights reserved to michigan
^-all rights reserved to wisconsin
%-using gallons
$-using american standards not the rest
#-no idea what that one is there for...

Oh yeah I did calculate the mpg by dividing miles driven and how many gallons used and the computer was actually quite close...last I checked!

Currently £1.06 a litre[&:]
We all pretty much still talk about mpg over here though, or so many gallons. Very few use the metric litre speak when talking about this kinda stuff.

I mean that so many people (even here in Canada where we have been metric for 40 years) proclaim their mileage proudly in mpg.
I ask how they calculate that and nobody seems to be able to offer a reasonable calculation. I tried to ask if the result was from the trip computer or from mileage travelled divided by fuel used. This was because my trip computer is wrong by at least 10%
Keep in mind also that US gallons and Imperial gallons are different also.
there are 4.54 litres in an imperial gallon, and 3.79 litres in a US gallon.
People who think in Imperial gallons go a whole lot further per gallon than in US gallons.
The calculation is important. and I dont think many people can do the calculation in their head. and people throw around numbers without any backing....
Litres/100km is a little easier to calculate, since we run around 10-12 litres/100km, most people can calculate that in their head. I learned my times tables up to 12x12 back in grade 4.

overall I get about 20 miles per US gallon, with 30% street and 70% highway. ( i guess I drive kinda hard) I use the Sport modefor a combined 15 minutes a month or so.
however, I did manage to get ~ 15 Miles Per US Gallon going 110 miles per houron cruise control from NY to Virginia.
again, these are all estimates, as i am not a computer. and I only use 93 octane

Just come back from a round trip Glasgow to Newcastle ( Staffs ) a total of 663 miles. Filled the A6 up to the top before I left and headed down all (motorway) with cruise on at 80 - 85 for 90% of the outward journey. Came back a little quicker, mostly 90 with a few bursts of 110 - 130 here n there to relieve the boredom.
On a 70 litre tank topped off I got 663 miles with the comp saying I had 39 left to empty.
Works out at around 45.5 mpg which is close as the trip was telling me 44.7mpg.
All in UK mpg imperial paid for in GBP.....lol
Not bad though eh?
Woulda been nice to take the X but it woulda cost approx £150 - £170 against £60 for the Audi.
She's gonna have to go soon the way fuel prices are going up here.....£1.06 a UKlitre today. Thats nearly £5 a UK gallon which at todays exchange rate is a little over $10[&:][&:][&:]
Lookin like another Audi diesel or maybe a Ford Mondeo....
