Default Gear Linkage Cables (Auto) Wont engage drive when warm

Hi all

Literally just picked up my new X type yesterday! When warm it seems to not select/engage drive, the previous owner muttered something about the gearbox needing a service (Which it will get) but the most annoying thing is, when the car is cold it will engage Drive no problem from Park or any other gear... When Warm, unless I BANG it into Drive it will not select it. Or any of the other Manual gears. Car drives spot on, Can drive all day in Drive, so long as you don't come out of Drive.

Gear linkage cables need replaced? Box is going to get a service anyway but I may aswell gather what parts I can to be fitted when it goes in for the service.

Is the Gearbox Service the same sort of procedure as the S Type? Presume itll be the same ZF box.

Thanks - ay info / advice greatly appreciated.

Please find and read all the TSBs for your car.
Jaguar already addressed most of the customer concerns for this issue decades ago.
Gus has most if not ALL TSBs for the X400 on his site.

Jaguar did issue a plastic tool to help lock the selector lever in position for adjustment.
It is GREEN or RED tool that might be in the tool kit originally included with your car.
