Default Gear selector is not locking

Hi Folks.
So i just discovered a new issue with my jaguar xtype .

Whether the car is on or off ( key in ignition or out ) my Gear selector is not locking, i can move the selector from P to R or any any positions,

The downside is that when i start the car and turn if off, the Key is not coming out, * unless i remove the battery terminal. Once i remove the terminal the ignition lets me take the Key out .

Any idea if this is a Selector issue or key cylinder issue ?

Most likely it is the parking solenoid. You would normally have to place your foot on the brake to disengage the solenoid and then shift from park. The solenoid has probably failed. The key not being able to be removed is normal if you forget and leave the shift lever in gear, it won't let you remove the key as a reminder.

You should log into JAGBITS web site on of our sponsors and submit a parts request. Let them know you can send a picture. More than likely you might have to go the used part route.
Contact DrDome a forum member he parts out x-types ad might have one.
Call or text him at 484-903-4813 and let him know what you need.

That looks like something made on a 3D printer. Normal molding does not leave a surface finish like that. Perhaps that is why it broke.

Pete.
