Default getting an extra key

for long i have only one key, and i am afraid if i lose that then it will cost me around 750 dollar for dealer to deliver at my house.

so i was looking around ebay and i found those blank transporter key, and i was googling for them but somebody said local locksmith can't cut it, so is it true?

how should i get another key, i don't need remote lock or anything, just talking about actual key
i have 2004 x-type 3.0 manual transmission

thanks in advance

A second key cost me $250 from my local locksmith with the key fob. Took him about a 1/2 hour to cut and program it.

That's why I always have extras made for all of my vehicles.

The good news is that you can get additional units for way less by getting separate parts from different sources. For example, I bought the remote half from ebay (brand new) and the key part from a dealership (again, brand new...I would advise against getting one that had the blade replaced). Nalley Jaguar would sell you the key half cut to your VIN for a decent price.

The bad news, however, is that in order to program additional keys, you need to start with TWO working keys. So, if you have only one working key, you will need to have a locksmith or a dealer program it to the car.

Good luck!
