Default Gliptone Scuffmaster dye application

I posted this on the interior forum but I don't think anyone ever replies.

I bought some Scuffmaster gliptone dye for my X type a few months ago and have never opened it. The product should still be fine, correct?

If I use a aerosol (not a paint gun) to apply, do I need to dilute it with water?

Also, I have read that some guys use a "clearcoat" on top of it....my order only came with some sponges and the bottle of dye. No clearcoat on the package or instructions. Do I need this coating on top of the dye??

Thanks!!

The instructions say:

With professional spraying equipment dilute 10 - 20%

With a hobby gun dilute 15 - 25%

Then leave to dry and leave for another 24 hours before using the leather, which should dry to a matt finish.

There is a gloss enhancer available for a more shiny finish

Seems the difference between scuffmaster and flexicote is the flexicote uses a top coat sealant.

Also

" Our system does NOT involve a top coat sealant which if applied incorrectly can cause dye to transfer to clothing, our dye does not need a sealant. "

From Why the Gliptone System is the Sensible Approach

Leather Recolouring

As you have waited this long, you could double check with them sales@liquidleather.com
