Default Greasing driveshaft bearing on an 04

I've read that the 04's don't have the places to put a grease gun needle, so I am wondering what are my options for greasing the driveshaft bearing? I read on another car forum that pretty much any grease will help the driveshaft bearing, the guy even said he uses wd40. I am wondering what about Liquid Wrench white lithium grease spray? It has the little straw adapter. Do you think this would be better than nothing? That might be enough to just get a little in there to keep it rolling smooth.

04xtype04, while I have an 03, I simply slid the needle between the rubber flaps on the bearing and squirted a bunch of grease in that way. However you are going to do the WD-40 or lithium grease, you should be able to do the same with the grease gun.

Ok thanks. I think a grease gun would be the better way to go then.

I just greased my 04' X Type with a grease gun and needle. It took a little effort but it pushed in about a half an inch. I did it from the back side. I knew I got it when grease came out the front. It helped a little with the bearing noise but not a lot. I figured it wasn't going to do any harm and putting grease on a moving part is always a good thing.

How much movement should the bearing have inside the rubber housing?

Harley, the carrier bearing should have very little play in it when going side to side as it relates to the car. As a general rule, if you can see movement, then that is too much. Any play in the bearing allows the driveshaft to flop around and lead to vibrations. If you are talking about in line with the shaft, then I would say no more than say 1/16" or so. Again, any play is going to result in things not remaining solid and leading to vibrations.
