I have a 2003 X-Type 2.0 petrol auto and the (latest) problem is the total disintegration of the handbrake release button (or whatever you call the thing you press with your thumb to engage or release the handbrake). The flimsy plastic part broke before and I stuck it back together which bought me about 6 months of use. Now it is in too many pieces for my trusty superglue (plus a bit missing). I cannot find anywhere online that will sell me just the button, without buying the whole handbrake unit. Any ideas?

I am not sure what options are in Sydney, but I would try to find one in your local pick and pull. Here there are a couple web sites to do national searches of salvage yards.
