Hi,

I'm looking to put headers on my X-type 3.0...

I know that no one makes parts that fit exactly but I do know that some applications are similar...so my questions are:

1. what's the best application to go for? I know the ford mondeo manifolds will fit, and I know the mazda 6 headers will fit...but to what degree do the downpipes etc need to be modified for it to fit the X?

2. does the ford probe 2.5 headers fit also? think I read this somewhere - it would be useful because the header kits go into 1 pipe rather than 2 - I know 2 is more beneficial but it's a bit more than I can afford.

3. Any general advice or best ways to get headers on my X!

I hear the Mazda 6 has a similar setup....ford contour is another good source.

There was a guy who had a blog on the X at one time....he swapped in manifolds from a 3.0 duratec out of a Taurus. Not exactly headers but less restrictive nontheless.

 

Thanks for the input guys - I think i'll proceed with the Mazda set up as I can get it shipped over from the states pretty easily...

But does anyone know if the Ford Probe 2.5 set up would fit?

And does anyone have any pictures of the underside of the X Type?

On closer observation I can now see the Probe headers would not fit - so please ignore that!

The headers the author, Steve Hannes, came up with look like a pretty good fit. Of course, you will need a custom wye pipe.

Mark
