headlight
Hi, my headlight is lose, where u put the bulb into the holder this part moves about,I have spoken to a few garages and they said it's a known fault, rather than pay £242.00 for a complete headlight any ideas on a cheaper way to fix this, someone said self tapping screws, maybe.!!!

Heather, the garages are correct. This is a common problem with the X-Types. You can do some looking around and see if you can get a used headlight assembly and slap that in (fairly easy to do, but will take about an hour to get it in). Just ask a lot of questions if you are buying over the internet and specifically ask if the adjusters are broken inside of the headlight (ie, internals are loose). You can also remove the headlight from the car and access the internals. some members have had luck using 2 part epoxy to glue the pieces back together. But, in a lot of cases, this is a temporary fix as the pieces will break again in the future. If you do the gluing bit, I would also recommend getting some long nylon tie straps (can be had at any hardware store) and providing additional support by looping the tie straps between the back side ring and the support on the front of the headlight. This will ease the load on the parts that brake and allow them to last longer. Sounds like you are over in England. If you lived in Stafford VA (near me), I would tell you to come over and we would get you taken care of in an afternoon.
