Welcome to the forum jondare,

I've moved your question from General Tech Help to X-Type forum. Members here with the same model will be able to help.

Please follow this link New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the New Member Area - Intro a MUST forum and post some info about yourself and your vehicle for all members to see. In return you'll get a proper welcome and some useful advice about posting to the forum.

jondare, I would start with pulling the negative battery cable off of the battery, leaving it disconnected for atleast 30 seconds (preferably up to 5 minutes to ensure all computers have discharged all residual voltages). You can then reconnect the battery and see what you have at that point.

If the key is good (ie, is passing the proper code to the PATS computer) and the car is still going into THEFT MODE, then this would indicate that you have either a bad PATS module or a bad ECU.
