Help!! 2002 Jaguar X type shakes when accelerating after almost running out of gas
I have seen a forum on the lacquer thinner method and I'm thinking of trying it but not sure if it would help my problem. My 2002 x type almost ran completely gas recently
and I think it sucked in some crap from the bottom of the fuel tank. Since then I'm getting several codes. p1111,p1316,p1314,p0302,p0300,p2098,and p0037. I'm thinking of trying the lacquer to clean things out, but this worries me because its my only transportation at this time. Also does anyone know where/how to release any air in the fuel rail that may have been sucked due to low fuel? I have noticed that a new fuel pump is very costly. Any suggestions would be helpful?
Try simply replacing the fuel filter first, they are only like 8 bucks and are very easy to get to and replace, just need a 10mm wrench. I think its a 10 anyway. Might have just clogged the filter.
juwels, replace the fuel filter first. I would then put a fuel pressure gauge on the car and see what that is reading (should read 30-40 psi with the engine running and 40-50 psi with the ignition on, but engine off, both of these readings should be towards the upper end). If you have good pressure, but stumbling still, then you are looking at clogged injectors most likely. BUt, I am betting that you will find with a new fuel filter, your problems will go away.
