Hi All,

I have an X Type 2008 model which has developed an issue over the last year or so. Occasionally, and generally if I accelerate quickly at low speed, the driver side bonnet catch will pop, so the bonnet is held only by the left catch and centre spring loaded release catch.

The only thing that I can think caused this is that about two years ago I hit some concrete that was in a lane of the M25, buckling both driver alloys. I am wondering if perhaps this moved something out of alignment.

Does anyone have any advice on how I might be able to fix this? Perhaps there are some bonnet adjustments? I've done the basics, such as spraying the catch with WD40 to make sure it's not sticking before it's closed properly, and I've also tried adjusting the 'bonnet stopper' (for want of a technical term) that can be screwed up/down and is located a few inches left of the bonnet catch.

Thanks in advance,
Martin

Hood latch popping - been there, done that, on two 2002 x-types that I have owned.
Somehow over time the pull cable that opens the hood distorts and there is no adjustment. Installing a new cable from your Jag dealer means getting your head/shoulders into the footwell to coax it through the firewall but it is not difficult.
