Hesistation between 2nd and 3rd gear. 03 X-Type 3.0

From 2nd to 3rd gear, when accelerating moderately, I get a long pause in shifting, the revs go up and then a bad jolt as it switches into gear. Has anyone ever experienced this before? It's starting to really get me worried. Thanks.

does this happen every time or just an infrequent occurance that is worrysome?

I would say at least 30% of the time. So that's what worries me.

sounds like your transmission slipping. hope you are still under warranty. if so just take it to the dealer. if not, find a good transmission place locally and have them check it out.

Could be a software problem.Ask dealer to re-flash the transmission ECU with the latest software.Read about this curing poor mpg,flatspots,etc on other forums.
