I currently have standard Hella Headlights on my 2003 X-Type and I want to know if can swap them out for the Xenon Version of the Headlights?

Does anyone have any sort of Instructions?

My drivers side headlight the bulb connector has melted and it has burnt out the whole wiring so I need to change the whole light unit.

Please Help

 

shahid1290, how handy are you with wiring? If you are looking to replace the stock halogen headlights for the HID factory housings, you will need to add an additional wire to the headlight harness on each side. The HID housings have 2 ground wires where the halogen housings have a single ground and the HIDs use that second ground exclusively.

Option 2 is to get a set of HID and then mount them into the halogen housings and do your own wiring. I have done this to a few cars and can give you some pointers on how to get a setup that after doing it once, it will most likely outlast the car. Will it be the cheapest way? By no means. Going to kill you wallet, no. But, you have to make a choice of going with the cheaper product to have it fail in about a year (so you are back into the headlight housings again) or spend around $100 total and do it one time and not have to worry again. Your call.

 

If you're in UK be wary of changes to MoT. Also, you need to inform your insurer (who may well not care).

 

Probably your best bet would be to get the hid h1 kit. To install an hid kit you have to cut and solder the positive and negative wires, so if your bulb connector is already melted but you can salvage the postive and negative wire, you just need an HID kit and solder the wires. You can find decent HID kits for under $50. If you go oem HID, you are probably looking at like $1000 for a set of headlights with the ballasts and all of that.
