Default HID headlight has gone purple!

I have an 07 X Type with factory HID lights. Last night I noticed that the right side light has gone quite purple, the left is the usual white/blue tint. It seems just as bright as before, but the colour has changed considerably.

Any idea what is going on here?

Leaky envelope or hot ballast. I'll lay odds on the capsule.

Your bulb is about ready to burn out. Best to replace both of them.

I installed the new bulb today, and everything is back to normal. I read JTIS and it said I needed to remove the bumper cover and remove the headlight assembly. I had a look at the car and I couldn't see why I couldn't get to the bulb from the backside, so I tried and it worked just fine. Took about 20 min in total, appears the new bulb is a bit brighter than the 10 year old original on the other side.

Thats why its a smart idea to replace them both at the same time ;@)
Hope you paid around $10 for the replacement as auto stores charge around $100

Replacement bulb was $57 off Amazon.ca for a Sylvania bulb, made in Germany. The original was a Phillips, also German. The parts store was $120 for a brand I had never heard of.
