Unhappy HID Problem

The left one is stuck. Luckily it's in the level position. I can hear a low buzzing after the lights come on so I think the motor might still be operational. I can still adjust the heigth manually so there's nothing broken there. Does anyone have any information how the system works, I'd like to know something about it before I go tearing into it. I've looked on my copy of the JTIS and there's nothing covering the system, also nothing covering it in my Chilton European hard copy. I guess Jaguar wants to kept it a secret. I'd appreciate it if someone could clue me in.
Thanks in advance.

I guess nobody knows anything about the workings of these HID's. I guess I'll just have to learn how they work on my own. I've done this on other things in the past. I'm not afraid to tackle problems but always like to hear from others with experience. I will post my results after I'm find out what the problem is with this errant light.

The assemblies are a pain in the **** without hids so the chances of people on here trying to tackle a xenon equipped assembly is probably never going to happen (except for you!) Let us know how it goes though pics always help for future questions that members may have.

Have fun tearing it apart and be careful, they love to break.

Thanks.
I will be very careful when I decide to do it. At least mine is in the level position so there's no hurry. They are just like normal head lights now, except that the right one does the adjustment thing when they come on.
I'll try to remember to take pictures as I'm going through it.
I'm used to working on problem head lights because I have a '67 Charger and those hideaway lights are the biggest pain in the ****. The Charger has about 100 miles of wiring harnesses and is known to have grounding and connectivity problems. This Jaguar system will just be another adventure.

Yeah, they are a blast, just trying to trace a problem can take a life time. The '66 & '67 headlight mechanisms are all electric. There are so many connectors and bulbs that it's easy to lose ground, and then there is the electroluminesence instrument panel lighting. Which is a whole different problem in itself, when you're messing around with this setup, you best disconnect the battery because the transformer produces 200V AC.
