Default HID question

Hi guys i have an 05 X-Type that didn't come with the HID's. I am wanting to put an HID kit in the car but have been doing some research about them and there are a few places saying that unless the headlamp assembly was meant for an HID kit it won't be that much of a benefit and will not be aimed and cut off properly. I was wondering what the thoughts are on this forum as to the halogen headlamp assembly and the H1 HID kits. Is it worth it?, should i just buy bright halogen bulbs? I am wanting an HID setup but i don't want to spend $200+ on something that isn't going to be that much better than the stock halogens and also not be working properly cause of the headlamp assembly not projecting it right.

With the Halogen setup? I want better visibility at night. The halogen bulbs just don't seem that bright and the next alternative seems to be an HID kit.

Compared to even the lowest quality eBay HID setup, halogens suck. That's what's wrong with the current set up.
Aftermarket HID kits work great on any X-type that didn't come with them from the factory. Check the FAQ for several threads, including great pictorial walkthroughs of the install process (provided by me. [sm=smiley4.gif] )

So the HID kits work fine in the halogen headlamp assembly? Like i said i have read that they aren't focused right and will be very bright right in front of the car but as far as out in the distance they say that an OEM HID does a better job at distance.

the reason you read that the HID's don't look right in cars that are not designed with them is because those cars do not have projection lenses. The X-type has projection lenses! that means you will have a cut off line and they will look great! see my picture below, i have Hid headlights and Fog lights which I installed with a conversion kit... i think they look good how about you?

They do look great. Can i ask what bulbs you are using for the running lights? Are they LED? Which bulb and where did you get them? Were they plug and play? Also which HID kit did you use?

Thanks for the reply. Which LED bulb specifically though i see they have like 8-10 different bulbs that are 194 under white LED's. Sorry to be pesky but i really like the look of your lights and would like to get the same bulb do you still have the part number? Also what bulbs are you using for your fogs?

Thanks
Alex
