HID XENON
Hi,
I bought a HID aftermarket kit for my 06 Jaguar X-type and I installed it today... Gosh, it was so hard to put on the Cover (Plastic Protectors) afterwards... Well, I put the protector on one side.. do you think it would be ok if I left the other one off? Also One light seems to beam upward and the light to my left seems to beam downward?!?! What do I need to do differently?

Theres some screws to adjust lights...
But do not leave the protector off!!! It will only take a few weeks before the inside of your headlight starts filling with dust and condensation and everything else. It took me a long time too but you gotta get it on there!
Also, adjust both sides downwards. The aftermarket HIDs are VERY bright and its best if you point them down a little.

It seems as if he is refering to the rear cover. The plastic cap that goes on the back of the headlight. I drilled a 1" hole in the back of each of mine and use the rubber gromet (provided) to run the wires through. The whole install took me about 30 minutes. Though I've done it about 5 times in other cars.

Yes, he is referring to that. That problem is its hard to put it back on with the wires placed and secured in the middle of it, in that small of a space... It just takes the right arm angles to reach in there...
Some advice... Try reversing your reach and sort of reaching backwards with your arm twisted... It sounds stupid but youll be stunned how the different angle can help your hand fit right in... Seriously, try it.

remember that the headlight aiming or alignment is done with the HIGH or FULL or MAIN beams on.
they need to be adjusted to be just a touch lower than horizontal. the position of the dipped or low beams is not adjustable it is just a set angle lower than the high beams.
if you raise the low beams too much then the high beams will be blasting up into outer space.. ( and into other's eyes)
on another note. the K rating is sorta counter intuitive. the higher number is more blue.. and some think it looks cooler.. but to SEE the road better, try to get the 4300 bulbs they are whiter and brighter. lower number is better. (unless somehow blue lights arouse you)

Heck yeah blue lights arouse me but I wouldn't go with the 8000 and up. If you're going to spend money on lights they should have more purpose than just looks, they should also help you see better! I'd say 6-8k would be my liking but they all show off no matter what when they are hid. The 12k and higher look cool but there is really no use to them. I like the look of the lexus yellow fog (3000k), but I don't know that I'd spend the money they want for them for that yellow that wouldn't be that great of looking for the money and the 5000k are good looking.

See, I must be young at heart, cos, blue lights arouse me too....(well, maybe arouse is a bit strong) but I like em for sure. Not BLUE................but bluish tinted...........and especially NOT the blue type that you sometimes see in your rear view mirror.
The best compromise between bluish tints and bright bright lights that is possible.
I think I've hit that balance with the sportzblue bulbs I'm using........pretty good combo.
