This shows a 3 litre will gain 3 bhp using high flow cats

https://www.torquecars.com/tools/eng...calculator.php

I got 10 bhp from changing the back boxes

There aren't any direct bolt on high flow cats, you'd have to have it custom done. As for that site haha, there is no way that is accurate. I doubt just replacing the rear mufflers got 10hp. I do believe that replacing the stock exhaust manifolds and cats along with a better exhaust setup and high flow mufflers could free up a good amount of power, the cats/manifolds seem very restrictive.

Used these

" 3. HP gains of 10-12 HP "

Jaguar X-Type Performance Exhaust Kit By Mina Gallery

Before and after rolling road showed 10 HP

Have yet to meet anyone who says high flow cats will make a significant difference

Did you have your car dyno'd before and after? I'd like to see the chart, not because I dont believe it, but to see the HP and tq curves. As far as the high flow cats, just looking at the design of the stock cats there is no way they are as efficient for making power as a set of headers (or even ford Taurus manifolds) with high flow cats would be. Also with the cats in the stock location they add a lot of heat to the engine bay, heat that your engine sucks up to try to make power with. You haven't met anyone that says cats will make a difference is because no one has really done it to know. The problem with people looking to get more power from their car, any car not just the X type, is that they overlook the most important factor about modifying an engine for more power, its not just one mod that makes the difference, its many of them, designed to all work together properly to make more power. Mufflers won't make a huge difference, an intake won't make a huge difference, high flow cats won't make a huge difference, a tune won't make a huge difference; however adding all of those parts together and tuning the ECU to properly work with those parts net a nice bump in power. Another thing, if you gain peak 10hp, that's not really anything, but if you gain 5hp over the whole, or most, of the RPM range that's much more important. Think about it like this, if you make 250 peak HP but its only at 250 from 5k to redline, and under 5k your only making 200, you really only have 200hp most of the time. Now if you are making 250hp from say 3k to redline, that's a big difference over the other.

It was a long while ago and no idea where the charts are now, and after hearing it scream during those runs, I said I would never do that to a car again

Thanks guys for the info. I figured while they were needed i would try and go for an upgrade. I think a custom job will be too far into it.
