Default High Performance Halogen Bulbs

I'm looking to replace my current halogen bulbs and stumbled on these:

http://www.carid.com/2004-jaguar-x-t...hts-98624.html

Anyone ever use these types of bulbs as an alternative to installing a HID kit?

Cheers!

I used have these bulbs, they are really terrible during rainy days. I switch back to stock halogen. I'm going to switch to hid all around next week.

I just put my 3rd pair of super white halogen bulbs in 20min ago lol..but im thinking about switching to HID's too or have Jaguar convert it over for me. But i really like the sylvania silverstar cool blue or above bulbs, super bright and not the normal yellowish halogen look, but they only last about a year, if you dont want to convert to HID's give those a try..i think there better than the ones that you want to put in.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm gonna give halogens a go before I take the dive for hid.

I went for the MTEC 4,750k Halogen bulbs. Heard good stuff about them for I went for that.

Only thing is I can't seem to get the rear cover off to install them. I got the 2 wire latches off but there isn't enough room to remove the pastic cover.

Anyone got a solution or a step by step on how to change the bulbs? Photos would be great too!

Cheers!

As far as HID goes, I would do my research and get the best possible because if you get crappy kits they WILL break. I've probably gone through 5 or 6 cheap ebay kits. Get something from a known seller that has a honorable warranty. Trust me you will take advantage of this warranty.

Those high performance tinted bulbs are WORSE than OEM untinted bulbs. The blue coating actually filters out usable light and thus the output is going to be worse, even if the color is better and seems to be brighter.

As for changing the bulbs, I've pretty much defaulted to taking the front bumper cover and pulling the headlight out to change the passenger side bulb. I can take the bumper off and put it back in less than 15 minutes I've done it so often now. Driver's side I can squeeze my hand in there enough to do everything I need to do.

Some quality, reputable sources for HID kits are xenonsupply, xenondepot, and v-leds. I myself have a 4300k 35W HID kit from xenonsupply. Expensive, but well worth the price in quality, customer service (sales and tech support). Many will recommend DDM Tuning but looking at their shady marketing and sales practices I'm not a fan and will not recommend them no matter how cheap they are.

So I guess I have to go the route of removing the front bumper?

Seems like a "big thing" anyone got diagrams or instructions?

Thanks!

I replaced my stock low beam and fogs with Mina Gallery 135W bulbs.

I did a post on here about a million years ago when I had my X type.....lighting was terrrible and downright dangerous almost.

I upgraded to Sportzblue by Ring 100W bulbs in my dipped beams, full beams and Foglights and never had any issues in over a year, just very usable super white bright light

Thanks for the info guys, unfortunately I have no choice now but to try the MTEC ones cause I already bought them. If they go sour I may try the ones suggested.

My question still stands though. Does anyone have any photos/diagrams of how to install the bulbs? I heard about removing the bumper or just wiggling out the plastic backing.....what's best?

Cheers!

135 watts is not DOT compliant.

For background information, and a reputable vendor, see:

DO NOT BUY DDM TUNING, I have heard bad things about heir service and $25 HID kits.

Anyone know where I can find photos or diagrams on how to install the bulbs?

Step by step would be good too. Just can't find anything proper out there.....

It's in the vehicle maintenance booklet.

*EDIT* So I went searching on the Stickies list and found the link to download the manual online.

It seems the stock manual they gave me with the car doesn't have a whole entire section. Actually several including the bulb replacement section.

Got it now and gonna go for a try.

Cheers!

Thanks for the reply.

Mines a 2004 Jaguar X-Type. It's not in the manual.....what page is yours in?

So I installed the MTEC bulbs into the low beams and I'm happy with them.

Just wanted to ask if anyone knows what bulb is inside of the "HI BEAM" headlight is?

It seems to be smaller and I tried getting it out. I couldn't see in so I didn't want to mess it up.

Any ideas on the type and how to change it?

That's a wedge bulb. It's not high beam, just parking/city lights. The bulb size should be around the forum somewhere if you search for it. Could you please take a picture of your beam pattern against a fall for me? I'd appreciate it. Thanks!
