Default High RPM's

I have just put a new engine in my 2004 Jaguar X-Type 3.0 AWD for the first time and it ran fine till I pushed the “S” button. Now it seems to be stuck in a gear and I am exceeding 3000 RPM just doing 60 MPH. I have been told by two mechanics that it was something electrical problem. I truthfully don’t know what to do; I really wanted to keep it since after my parent’s death it is the only thing I have left of them. If you know anything please reply!
Thank You
-Jonathan

I believe it's stuck in "limp" mode. Would I need to take it to the dealership to get it flashed? It's feels like I'm stuck in 2nd gear
