Hood Liner Winner starting the Installation Process
Hello Everyone. My name is Wolf (a.k.a. 731Loadmaster) and the winner of a Hood Liner for our X-Types. I am very proud to recieve this, as well as, give you all the play by play of the installation. Pics will come later in January.
I recieved the Hood Liner within 5 days of the auction, and really didnt know what to expect. The fire-resistant mat reminded me of a scuba suit. Now, dont get ahead of me...it really is a nice mat, great color, cut to fit perfectly. The Leaper decal is very large and beautiful (Silver). This will look great. The only requirement for me was to clean the hood the best I can and I mean clean!!!! Ok...This will be my second job.
The very first job is and was, to remove the current liner. Those pesky plastic screws suck!!!! Every one of those things failed to come out and had to be destroyed in some way (Pliers) to remove. Now I have to find replacements. More wonderful money to pay out....any suggestions?
The cleaning of the hood was slow and still not where I want it to be. My GTP was pristine as was the engine, but Jaguar must have put something on the engine and components to make Simple Green ineffective. I have used 6 coats of concentrated SG and a pressure washer...the gunk is still sticking in the crannies. I will keep at it.
As for now, all work has come to a stop....I have to travel with the USAF and throw a bunch of Army grunts out the back...LOL. January will be my next step to install this Mat.
Throw me some suggestions and questions, and I will do my best to answer in a timely manner.
Thanks in Advance for everything!!!!

Comment though about the above. I thought Gonzos hoodliner simply glued in place and the mechanical fastners were no longer needed or optional to replace. You might want to check with him.
Looking forward to the pictures of the installation process.
