Default Horn/hooter location help please

The horns/hooters on the beast have mostly "squeaked", so new were to be fitted, when the rose near the top of the "to do" list.

Search states, "under the battery tray", THANK YOU, but Nope, not there.

The "squeak" has ceased, so I cannot operate them to find them, and setting off the alarm, just flashes the lights, coz the hooters had clearly migrated to Jag heaven.

It is a 12/09 BUILD date, 2.1V6 Front Wheel Drive.

Any other clues would be nice.

Thanks in advance.

Similar year to mine.
My pathetic horn is under the battery tray. Bottom right looking through the grill. You can see it!

Thank you.

I had the battery, tray and air cleaner out yesterday to do the water pump belt, and tensioner pulley, had a "whilst I am in here" moment take hold, but nothing there, no errant bolt marks, brackets, nothing to give a clue that maybe they "fell off".

A Crash Repairer I have known for too long, reckons the late ones had them on the LH chassis rail, behind the inner guard plastic liner, like where the washer bottle is on the RH side, NOPE again, nothing there.

I will look for the Orange wire tomorrow (schematics says thats the one), and take a HUGE chance on the right one, Voltmeter test ot first of course, splice into it and install the new 160Db hooters wherever they will fit.

Must be a female car.

This is consumoing drinking time at a serious rate.

Default Horn

Below is the information from the tech manual. You will probably need to remove the left side wheel arch for access or maybe reach from below.

Are you talking about the alarm set horn? It's separate from the steering column actuated warning horn.

It is situated behind the passenger side wheel arch cover, there appears to be rechargeable batteries in the unit. ( part number 1X43-19G229-BA ).

Check the fuse first.

Thanks guys.

Maybe this thing has Gremlins.

The alarm does not sound anymore, used to, but a "squeak" just like the steering wheel operated "squeaker" once did, had me assuming they were using the same sounding device, and it appears I be wrong.

The human "ticker" is causing some issues today, so I will let that settle, and go look deeper into this thing. Yelling out the window does not have the same affect, HA.

The fuses are OK, and the relays "click" to the feel, but a voltage test on the "out going" wire will need to be done for sure.

Give me a few days to settle this ticker nonsense, and I will update this thread.

Thanks again.

There's also an alarm horn, part #C2P0001

The main steering wheel horn is part #C2S39053
