Default How to read codes via climate panel?

Hey guys!

Does anybody know how to read climate control system error codes via the climate panel?

Recirculation + Auto doesn't work. There is a graphical LCDisplay, not a small LCD line..

Thanks, catfondler

catfondler, the only way I know to read those codes is to get a higher end scanner like an SDD system. That will let you probe into that module and see what codes are in it. I am not aware of any way to do specifically what you are after. If you have the Nav/AC/heat setup, then you can try holding down the return (or is it the valet) button for like 15 seconds and this will put the radio into a diagnostic area and then maybe you can find what you are after that way. BUt, it is sounding like you have the separate radio and A/C controls. Not sure how to do that with that module.

Hi Thermo!

I've no knowledge about X-Type climate / radio / navigation control panels.

At my 2006 X-Type 2.5 L AWD, sedan it looks like that on this photo:

(Climate Control Moduls of other models [e.g. S-Type] with simpler and older LCDisplay are cabable of self test mode. Also different Ford control panels.)

My available diag systems are not able to read the CCM (and TCM). I don't know if it's due to restrictions or a cars failure.

Cheers, catfondler

catfondler, you have the separate A/C and radio modules. I am not aware of any way to get the A/C module (aka, ACCM) to give you codes. You may want to look on say Youtube, but most of what I remember seeing was for the Nav/Radio/AC unit that fits in that whole center console area.

catfondler, if this helps put your mind at ease any, the climate module is known as a failure point with your setup. So, if you are having issues with that panel, I would be looking to get my hands on a new one and call it good.

Hi Thermo!

Meanwhile I'd found a climate control systems training course for XJ/XK, S-Type, and X-Type.
Only XJ/XK seem to have an integrated self-test.

But my problem is solved: a defective transmission fluid temperature sensor. (A/C didn't had a failure.)
