Default I found out how to turn on rear fog lights! I am sooooo smart!!!:)

I drove my first 03 X-type for at least a year and didn't know it had rear fog lights. I also had 03 S-type, did it have rear fog lights? How about 86 XJS?

I hope you are referring to backup lights or reverse lights, (which should illuminate "automatically" when reverse is engaged) as I just don't see how you'd need fog lights on the rear of your Jag???

All cars over here are required to have at least one fog light at the rear, optional at the front.
All my XJS's had them.

The S would have had them also.

Queen Elizabeth would never drive a car w/o rear fog lights!

U.S. spec XJS' did not have rear fogs...(at least my '84 and '91 didn't), though if one were ambitious enough; you could the take a rear rubber cover off a XJ40, make cut-outs in the aluminum reinforcement on the XJS, and voila! Sharp looking rear fogs.

You've got to be kidding me??? How do you keep from blinding the driver behind you??? Don't get me wrong, I've wanted to mount a driving light, pointed backwards to blind the sucker who runs up behind you, with his Hi Beams on, and won't dim them! But to have them, and actually use them as fog lights??? I don't get it???

Yeah, not white as front fogs are. In each light housing and a brighter red color, sort of like stepping on the brake but located in a different area. My brake lights are WAY brighter than standard, as I have replaced all but turn signals with LED's.

Standard bulbs

LED bulbs

As mentioned above they are red, they will only come on with dipped beams and it is illegal to use them unless it is foggy.

Exclamation

The rear lights you put on in fog, are there to increase your visibility to the drivers behind.
More visible than the standard tail lights, so you can be seen earlier in poor visibility

Don't people read their owner's manual any more? Half the questions on these forums are caused by a lack of basic research - the most basic being the reading of the manual to find out what features the car has and how to access/operate those features. On the F-Type forum there was a lambasting of Jaguar for not providing fore/aft movement of the driver's seat...it turned out that the poster had not read his manual and therefore did not know that his (base, non-optioned) model had electric tilt but a manual fore/aft adjustment...so he couldn't see how to move the seat. (To be clear, almost all F-Types sold had/have thousand-way electric adjustment).
The owner's manual is your friend.

I am going to read owners manual, you never know what else English cars can have. Do Jaguars have ejection seats like jet fighters?

Of course they do; you eject slowly through the rusty floor pan.

Rear foglamps are great for tailgaters! Pop them on for a second and tailgater thinks you've hit the brakes - without having to brake-check him!

But only effective if tailgater is a true numpty and does not realize why you have also put on your rear lights. "Fogs only work when main lights are on".

Big menace today in UK is idiot with illegal high intensity rear and brake lights sitting at traffic lights with foot brake on. No consideration for the poor guy behind him.
