I need an education on IRS rear ends please
First I want to be honest with you, I do not own a jaguar. I do however own several classic fords. I have found information on swaping the IRS rear assembly from a 69-87 Jaguar in to other cars, but I am however having trouble locating a rear end from those years. I have found an IRS Rear end assembly from a 93 Jaguar and was wondering if you could tell me what the differences are between it and those that came in the 69-87 cars? Is it just the disc brake location, inboard vrs outboard, or are there other differences? Thanks.

Honestly, not too familiar with the earlier jags and the rear ends...But, from experiance, it's best to buy a custom fabricated independed rear end made for your application than it is to swap one out, cost wise you pay a bit more, but are getting excellent quality...vers getting one from the junk yard, than having to rebuild and install....

I really appreciate the reply
Thanks for the info especially the article about the jag retrofit. I understand exactly what you are saying about it being easier to go with an aftermarket set up getting all new parts, but for me it is the fun of engineering it that makes me want to do it. Also if you look at the aftermarket units they are basically jag rear ends so either way when it is all said and done I get the same thing only this way I get to say I did it my self
