ICE build-up on the INSIDE the windscreenHey all:
Hey all!
I've got ice forming on the INSIDE of the windscreen when the car is parked overnight.
Does this have something to do with the little "noise-maker" others have been complaining about in other recent threads, that's supposed to samle the humidity / temp when for awhile when ya shut the motor off?
what ain't workin' here?
it deforsts fine....

You may have a partially obstructed condensate drain ..perhaps Ice..But every time you run the defroster the A/C compressor runs..so naturally the A/C evaporator will wring moisture out of the cabin air or the outside air as it comes inif Recirculate is off..and then this moisture vaporcondenses on the Evaporator coilsand runs off into the drain (yes, even in winter)..if there is no where for the water to go..it will sit in there and evaporate/vaporize again overnightand vapors will find themselves sticking to the cold windshield via the defrost vents..ero..ICE..Most of us get in, in the cold morning and we had just been in the shower and our bodies and hair are full of moisture to add to the car air.

The AC does not run when the temperature is below 40F. even it it did, it only condenses if the air has humidity, so I doubt the issue is from AC being on. The only thing that is on in the winter is the little red light on the button.
I see 2 possibilities.... stuck recirc flap... ( test by pressing the button and listen for obvious change of blower sound.)
Or you are not knocking the snow off your boots and the floor mats are wet.
To think of it another way... the frost on the inside means the car is humid inside. In the winter the outside air is dry, the only source of humidity is the Driver and the occupants.

okay, I'll buy that.
I have a set of the Jaguar "Heavy Duty" floor mats, with the thick rubber and carpet, so they could be holding a lot of water from repeated entry with snowy boots.
I wash the car alot. ALOT. I thought maybe that had something to do with it.....

Wet soggy floor mats will probably cause this too..I should of considered the obvious first..However it don't have to be tropical like humidity to cause condensation on the Evaporator..Winter typically runs with 30% to 50% RH..what do you think Snow is made from?..Winter Precipitation is wet the last time I checked, and it came from moisture in the astmophere.
40F??..I can't find anything to disprove orverify that..I guess Iwill wait for a 32F day or colderto check it out.

I'm making a presumption that you are in the US McJaguar. In the UK many hardware stores (and some supermarkets) sell small dehumidifiers that make use of some sort of crystal compound (the crystals are replaceable). They do a great job in small places such as car interiors and caravans.
Something like this could remove the current build up of moisture... You could then determine, if the condensation returned, the likely source.

No Mark..I think he's talking about Silica Gel Crystals..They are a fantastic compound to absorb moisture..Ever find those little white packets inside a carton with electronic gear?..That is Silica Gel Crystals..they act as a desiccant toremove anymoisture inside the sealed carton...
And keep these little sugar pack look alikes away from kids..too inviting to eat.
