Default Ideas for preventing Leaper Theft?

Well just like anyone, I do not want to get my leaper stolen. What are somethings i can do to prevent it from occuring?
I know this might sound stupid, but how about adding and electric charge to it when the cars security system is activated? LOL Straight from the battery, no resistors!
But seriously, what can I do? How much does the Growler conversion cost?

Your best/cheapest bet is to take the leaper off and take it to a weld shop. Have htem put a tack weld or two on the inside of the assembly so the leaper is hard mounted now to the base. Then, when you bolt it back to the hood, it won't move. But, much beyond that, not much you can really do.

A9mm with hollow points in the glove box is a pretty good theft prevention device, thats what I use. Although they don't know you have it. So just put a smith and weston sticker on the back window...that should do the trick lol

Only bad point about hard mounting the leaper to the base is that if they try to pry the leaper off or use brute force, you will incur more costs in body damage to the hood then simply replacing your newly liberated hood leaper.

If you're looking for fun, just sleep in the front hedge with a pellet gun. (Note: don't shoot around the eyes.)

I have been contemplating buying a leaper for the longest time, about 3 months since my leaper was stolen. I want to get a flat Green emblem with the cat in the middle, but can't find any on ebay.

Anyone replace their leaper completely with a flat emblem?

Arden's removable leaper should cure the problem

Any method for keeping the leaper on the car garantees damage to the hood should the person want the leaper hard enough. Atleast if it is mounted solidly, people will get the idea and hopefully move on. Granted, if the person wants it, they will do whatever it takes including destroying your car. So, screwed either way.

ghettomike, it would involve electrically isolating the leaper from the rest of the car and then using a microchip (OP amp), you wire up the leaper to the chip and then to the horn relay. So, as the potential on the leaper changes, it triggers the OP amp, which then triggers the horn. The big trick to this project is getting the leaper electrically isolated from the car.

When I decided to fit a leaper I knew I had two options. 1. Bolt the leaper on and hope my bonnet doesnt end up dinted. Or, 2. Grind off the bolts on the bottom of the leaper and stick it to the bonnet with strong sticky pads so it doesn't dint your bonnet if they want it. I went with option 2[sm=smiley20.gif], now I have NO leaper! [sm=smiley21.gif]Lol. On the bright side I only needed a drop of WD40 and the bonnet was good as new. The moral of the story is, If you tie it, lock it, chain it or use any other way of sticking itdown, it will get nicked!

Don't do anything that will more "permanently" affix the leaper as the damage to the hood/bonnett will be nasty. I replaced my leaper with a 3.0 Sport bonnett badge from an S-type and think the car looks better without the leaper.
