Default Instrument cluster bulb replacement

Hi guys is there a straight forward way of removing the instrument cluster in a 2001 X-Type to replace a bulb or maybe all of them while its out? and does anyone know what bulbs are needed to replace the ones that are there. Would it be worth converting to LED'S

Not found a step by step procedure for this on the X-Type despite several searches on the forum.

After looking at the back of my cluster awhile back, I was pretty confident that replacing the lights was a hard job and it just made more sense to buy a new cluster, but the cluster is actually really easy to take out so you can see for yourself. The whole wood surround actually just pops off and then you can get to the front screws of the cluster and the main connector. It would probably take 15-20 minutes to take it out and check it, but if my memory serves me right, then the lights are not replaceable.
