Interior compatibility - X-Type
Hey all,
I am based in Oz and have a 2001 C-Type 3.0l AWD I am working on. I need quite a few interior parts, a seat, dash etc. The interior colour is Heritage Tan, and finding matches is challenging. I have access to a couple of wrecks which have different coloured interior, and they are 2005 models... So my cunning plan was to do a full swap out of the interior, but I cannot find information about the compatibility of interiors between year models.
Question: will the interior from a 2005 fit into a 2001 model without modifications?
Thanks in advance.
Neil

NHP58, you hsould be good in swapping the interiors. The only changes I am aware of are involving the steering wheel. But, even that is nothing more than moving the current switches over to the new steering wheel (as I recall). All the mounts and whatnot should be the same. so, undo your series of bolts, remove, new panel lines up to the old holes and tighten down.
I think there's a few things that might be difficult.
First, the front seats. If the MY2005 ones are the memory type, there would be some significant wiring changes to be made as they weren't an option in 2001. However, if they're of the same spec as each other, that will be fine; note there are 8 way, 4 way and 2 way non-memory options.
Memory wing mirror switching and wiring is also totally different to non memory ones, as are the wiring arrangements for the seat heaters if fitted.
The Restraint system by MY2005, had a few upgrades compared to MY2001. The obvious ones are the airbag above the driver's legs that was never fitted in 2001 and additional pre-tensioners in the seat belt system. There have also been many reported cases of difficulty in programming a passenger weight sensor to a different Restraint Module. Keep the original sensor!
You might be able to get around some of these points by just transferring the seat covers, leaving the electrics alone.
Check the rear seats to see if they fold down or are fixed. The bulkhead behind the seat back is different for each type that might or might not prove awkward
Removing the dash doesn't look like a job for the faint hearted
Whatever you do, take a good look at the wiring diagrams for each car before you start. They're all here JagRepair.com - Jaguar Repair Information Resource

A BIG thank you for the feedback, exactly the info I needed to make a decision.
I will weigh up the pros and cons and keep you posted on the outcome, especially if I decide to try a swap... what could possibly go wrong 😂
Thanks again for tour time.

I have swap many Interiors the only issues is the steering wheel which is an easy swap you just lose your cruise control function if you swap your seats out you can remove the bottom half saving all your plugs from your old seat and installing them into the new seat other than that everything else is plug-and-play.
Any issues you can contact me. Also any parts you may need I also have.
Thanks,
The Dr
