Harley, if you have the 2.1L motor, you have the diesel engine, not the petrol engine. If you have a petrol engine, then it is either a 2.5L or 3.0L engine. I would hate to see you put the wrong fuel into your new kitty.
Not to ask a silly question, but with the above question, it also leads me to question whether you have a 2WD car or an AWD car. If you have a 2WD car, then most of your problems are going to be with the rear end of the car with oddity noises (loose mounts for the rear sway bar, loose bushings on the rear suspension arms, shock mounts coming loose, etc). If you have an AWD car, be nice to the transfer case and it will be nice to you. The transfer case is the weak link on these cars and they don't like lots of power. Drive it sensibly and you won't have any issues. Drag race from stop light to stop light and you will find your wallet getting very light, very quickly. Also, the transfer case is "filled for life". Yeah, right. Look on here and there are lots of options when it comes to doing the fluid for the transfer case. But, please note, this will normally involve a slight modification to the car as the fill plug is not accessible with the transfer case installed in the car. So, a refill involves either installing a valve (of some sort) into the drain line and then refilling through the drain line or tilting the car with the left side of the car raised in the air about 50 CM (yes, the one side will be way up in the air). This angle will allow the fluid to be held in the transfer case in a way that you can put the drain plug back in without loosing any fluid. If you need to know more about this, just say so or do some looking at there are tons of different how-to's on this.
Overall, I think you will like this car a lot. Not any more problems with this car than any other one on the road contrary to what you may have heard. Most of us have had very few problems with our cars.

thanks for that ........ the car is petrol and 2.1cc ............. according to the v5 reg. document ................. have a few cars and bikes but never had a jag. but thanks again for your help
Like Thermo said, you have either a 2.5L or 3.0L gasoline powered motor, or a diesel. Can't have a 2.1L gasoline engine because they never made one.

Hey tt, see you got the 2.1 petrol X type
They did make these guys, quite a few available here in the UK.
Personally I always thought it was a good cruiser but a little short on power, but still an X at the end of the day. Hope you enjoy your Jag and our forum
