Hey I have just recently got a 2003 jaguar x type to fix up and I can’t seem to find the problem it will start and idle but it wants to die and when you rev it up it won’t go past 3000 rpms I cleaned the (MAF) max air flow sensor and that didn’t help any ideas

Pull the OBD Codes, almost assuredly one (or more) of the "big 3" air leaks.

DAX, the 3K RPM limit is a protection feature of the X-Type. Normally engages when you have the check engine light. Like Dell says, probably one of "The Big 3 vacuum leaks" the X-Type is known for. Do some searching here, tons of information about it and how to fix it (easy, cheap fixes). After that, could be so many things, we could drive you into the poor house saying "replace this, replace that, ..........". The codes will help us narrow down where the problem is.

Of note, you are actually wanting to see a "P1111" code. Contrary to what you will see on the internet, P1111 says all is good and everything is working as it should.

If you are not sure what reader to get, top of the X-TYpe page is a sticky about what readers other members recommend. Read that and take your pick. You will get the pros and cons of each.
