Default Jaguar losing power

When i'm driving my x type 2006 Jaguar, every 2.5 miles it loses power, then a plume of black smokes comes out of the exhaust and then the car starts driving normally. Does anyone have any idea what the issue could be? Any responses would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

MrRK51, we need a little bit more information because of where you live. Are we talking a petrol engine or a diesel engine? If it is a petrol engine, the 2.2L or the 2.5/3.0L engine. Each of these have their own little quirks to them.

If diesel, just search "Mr. Muscle" fix in this forum.
