Jaguar Mechanics Help Needed
I have a 2003 X-type 3.0 with 57,200 miles. My transmission is slipping under normal driving conditions between 2nd and third gear for about 2 seconds then it does a mild lurch into 3rd.
The dealer told me that the computer that operates it is like a bad version of windows 98 that needs to be rebooted all the time to fix the issue. This was gradual before but now its constant.
My question is, is this tranny breaking or what?

I had a complete transmission breakdown at 60,000 miles i noticed a slight slip at 2nd gear one day cruising on the highway i lost everything out of the blue. Needed new transmission. Thank god for extended warrenty. The dealer had told me that 2002 xtypes had many tranny problems. I baby my girl 2002 xtype now 81,000 miles 3.0 premium package.
to make long story short be mindful on the tranny and hope u have warrenty. My total cost for a new tranny that jag paid for and put in turnaround time of two days was around 3400 dollars. at the collection in south miami.

Ok I think The Collection is Bull S#$%^$%^ ME!
Because I too live in Miami and use the same delaership. They told me when inqiuiring about tranny cost: $6,200.00.
I don't have a warranty.
So I think its time to take it down to CarMax or trade it in for a new car which ever works at this point. (It won't be another Jag thats 4 sure!))
The slipage is only noticable under smooth drving conditions...if you give it a bit of gas its not really noticable and if you floor it you can't tell at all.
Really Pist off man cause I loved the car, spent alot of money on fixing it up, and took extreme care of the car.
I have front spoiler on car as you see in my side pic and sideskirts from JaguarXP goinf for sale on ebay soon dirt cheap if anoyne interested..
