Default Jaguar Warranty Info ?

I am new to the site and am just getting ready to buy an 04 X-type with just under 48k miles on it. Because it has passed the 4 year mark, the vehicle is no longer under manufacturer warranty from what I gather. Does anybody have any suggestions on where to look for extended warranty coverage? I was looking on some sites online, but was wondering if anyone has any experience with this.

I have been driving american vehicles all my life, but realize that repairs on a Jaguar would probably be 10x more expensive than say a Chevy Blazer.

Any input would greatly be appreciated.

Here are some quotes from the S-Type board. X-Types are probably going to be higher due to the AWD system. The Jaguar Extended warranty probably isn't going to be cost effective because it is for 6 years from initial purchase, which would be effective for only about a year in your case.

continental warranty based in Delaware. Cost about 2g total. for 5 years and 60.000 miles with 100.00 deductible.

ASC

3-year 36,000 miles 0 deductable for $2,000.00

Hope this helps,

Mike

If you are not going to be using a dealer for your repairs and instead are going to be using an independent shop you might ask them who is the best to deal with for aftermarket warranty claims.
Personally I would spend more money on a warranty that is going to be less problematic when the need to use it arises.

thanks for the input all. i was actually just looking into that first company, continental to find out more info. how did you go about getting prices? did you have to call them or were you able to get info off of their site? that actually sounds like a pretty good deal. i'd pay 2k for a 3 year 36000 mile. i dont mind the deductible either though.

with regards to the 2nd comment, who should i ask about the best warranty? you mentioned that i should just ask them who to sign up with for a warranty, but i dont know who "them" is referring to.

Thanks again.

Hi Wolv, discuss warranty companies with the techs who will be doing your work for you. Whether a dealer or independent, they will know which ones are easiest to work with and which ones to stay away from.
