Jaguar X-Type + $1,500 Budget
Hey guys. As the title says, I have a 2003 Jaguar X-Type and roughly a $1,500 budget to go to town on my sound system. Here's what I'm thinking:
-Aftermarket head-unit with auxiliary iPod capability (high quality music = must).
-4 new speakers.
-5-channel amplifier.
-Dual 12" subwoofers..
-a capacitor (if necessary).
Here's what I'm thinking:
Amplifier: Hifonics ZXi60.4 + 1K 5-channel.
Speakers: MB Quart PVI 216's (6.5").
Sub: Dual Rockford Fosgate Punch P2's.
Head-Unit: No clue. Thinking a Jensen 6.5 Flatscreen but I don't have much use for it. All I really need is an auxiliary port for connecting to my iPod.
Capacitor: Is this necessary?
I've had a bad experience trying to mix and match a mono amp with a sub in the past (50-150 rms sub with a 200 rms amp, both at 4 ohms = bad for business). What are your thoughts?
Thanks a ton. I appreciate it.

Ahh, let the kid have his fun! I remember as a kid just starting out with my first car I had a $500 car with a $1000 sound system. Yes it was stupid but hey, it was a learning experience.
WesSide, you might want to go for a Jaguar audio connectivity module instead of replacing the factory radio. I'm not a huge fan of the looks of an aftermarket head unit in the X. With the module you can get your inputs.

Check out www.edesignaudio.com for a package deal on speakers and amps and also go to www.monoprice.com to check out blowout prices. You can thank me later.

I have some h&r springs I'll sell ya too as I bought them to put on mine but I think it would heve some towing issues then. Still don't know why anyone would put bigger wheels on any car. 16" is the proven point at which the performance goes down. Car and driver did a great eye opening story a few issues ago on it. Going up 3 wheel sizes equaled an average of loosing .08gs around the skid and the track times were just as bad. Bling is fine but performance is even better IMHO.
