x-type reverse sensors giving false beeping periotically.
I have posted this issue a while back regarding my sensors continously throwing out a steady and quick beeping from time to time. But after watching it for a while I've come up with some new info that might help us diagnose whats going on. So to start from the beginning, On some occasions when I put my 05 x-type in reverse it will immediately begin beeping as if I was about 3 feet from a wall and it will not stop. All sensors appear to be working because when I go up to them I can hear them ticking, and if I get to close the beeping changes to solid.
It does not do this when I first start the car, but rather on the second trip. For instance...I'll back up out of my driveway with no incident, but when I get to work and back into a space they will beep.
I was thinking that perhaps they are not aimed properly and are picking up the road. Is that even possible? Can I possibly tell if one of them is bad even if they all make that little ticking sound? Any ideas would be appreciated.

Harry, from the sounds of things, you have a sensor that is starting to go and to place odds on which one it is, I would be looking at the ones on the outside corners. These sit close to the exhaust and after a little bit of driving, they will be subjected to the heat of the exhaust, which could be enough to cause them to be failing. But, when they are cold, they will work just fine (hence the first backing up everything is fine, but later they are failing). A new sensor is about $70. As for which side, not sure how you are going to figure that one out without getting a new sensor, picking a side and installing the new sensor, then seeing if the situation changes. You have a 50/50 chance of picking the correct one.
