conbobway, I see that you are a new member and probably don't yet have enough posts to use the search function. The basic problem with your FOB if you didn't put the battery in backwards is that the contacts are dirty. Log on to you tube and search videos for x-type key fob and you will find all of the info to disassemble and clean the fob.

 

 

I had a similar problem. Bought a new cover, so I had new rubber buttons - worked for a day or two. Then I gently prised up the switches, as they had been sort of squashed down. One broke, but it was only for the headlights, so I decided to buy a union from eBay.

Oh, also I programmed the new one as per instructions on Youtube, and it works fine. I think there may be a couple of different videos of the procedure. The one I chose worked very easily.
