Key fob will not pair
I have a 2002 x type. The key fob will not pair I've replaced batteries and even replaced the lower fob. When I got to pair it I hear the car chime but can never get it to chime when I'm pushing the key fob buttons. Any ideas?
The key fob for my 2001 2.5 Se recently ceased to work. I replaced the battery's in both fobs ( the reserve fob having failed some time ago) I then followed the programming procedure but failed to get a 'bleep' after tuning the ignition key the stated 4 times between 1 and 2 ?
Any suggestions .

Fobs sometimes fail because of the switches. There are two things that often happen in older fobs. The first is that the switches break their solder joints to the circuit board. There are 4 solder connections on each switch. Sometimes only one breaks and and it looks OK unless you use a microscope. Sometimes all 4 break and the switch falls out of position. I have heard of people re-doing the solder.
The other problem is corrosion which appears as green gunk around the switch. I don't know if this can be fixed.
