Default key fobs

My fob opens my x type but will not lock it, have put new batterys in both fobs but still doing the same thing .Any idears.

Could be the switch in the fob is bad. If so, just buy a new fob and reprogram it. Or it could be something in one of the doors that does not allow it to lock. When you press the button do you hear any of the doors trying to lock? If not, then a good chance the switch in the fob is bad. You could try and open it up and try and clean it, but a new fob is not very expensive.

Could be the tiny micro switch in the fob.
Just done mine it's a bit of a fiddly job. We can buy repair kits in the UK.
Four micro switches, battery and rubber faceplate, costs about a fiver.
There is also a breaker on eBay who sells genuine unused fobs from cars he takes in and you just reprogramme it with the ignition click way. It worked for me.

Sorry just read the OP. looks like it's not fob related if both suffer the same problem.
